Patriots’ Drake Maye problem gets even worse as he gifts Travis Hunter his 1st career INT

The New England Patriots came into the 2026 season with high expectations, especially because of star quarterback Drake Maye. Maye nearly won the NFL MVP in 2025 in just his second season, but he has gotten off to a very slow start so far in 2026.

That slow start continued on Sunday against a talented Jacksonville Jaguars defense. After a critical fumble early in the game, Maye and the Patriots had a chance to cut into a 14-3 Jaguars lead just before halftime. However, the former No. 3 overall pick made a very poor decision and was picked off by Travis Hunter in the back of the end zone.

Maye now has six turnovers on the season after throwing four picks in his first two games.

It was the first career interception for Hunter, the former No. 2 overall pick in Jacksonville who has struggled to carve out a role so far in his NFL career.
