Stephen Curry and Patrick Beverley have seemingly been adversaries in the NBA for quite some time, with fans never forgetting Beverley’s reported retort to Curry following the LA Clippers’ then acquisitions of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. But there was a time when Curry and Beverley were once teammates with Team USA, long before they ever squared off against each other in the NBA.

Patrick Beverley and Stephen Curry played alongside each other on Team USA at the U19 level, and the former recently recalled when he first became acquainted with the latter’s shooting prowess, during a recent appearance on the ‘Out The Mud Podcast,’ hosted by former NBA players Zach Randolph and Tony Allen.

“I tell Steph Curry, ‘Hey bro, stop shooting that s**t, bro. That s**t ain’t going in,’” Beverley recalled. “Steph Curry comes and shoots that motherf**her from half court. This time he wasn’t as strong as he was.”

Beverley also spoke about being the focal point of that group, and how he had to adapt and reinvent his role once he got to the NBA.

“I was the second-leading scorer on that team, second in rebounds, first in steals, first in assists, I’m captain of the team,” Beverley continued. “That’s my team. So like to go from this role of having the ball all the time, to like having to adapt to a new role in the NBA, it was hard, but life is hard. It’s how it goes, you gotta adjust.”

Curry is currently entering his 18th season in the NBA, all with the Golden State Warriors, while Beverley recently signed a deal to play professionally in France.
