The Florida Panthers took on the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday night. It was an emotionally charged night, as Brady Tkachuk returned to Ottawa for the first time following a trade in June. Tkachuk did his part by scoring a goal against Ottawa. However, it was the Senators who laughed last.

The Senators pummeled the Panthers to the tune of a 5-1 victory on home ice. Tim Stutzle and Jake Sanderson each provided two points to aid in the win and withstand the loss of Linus Ullmark to injury.

After the game, Tkachuk spoke to the media. The former Senators captain made it clear that he's already looking ahead to his team's next game. The Panthers are set to take on Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins next.

“It's over and done with. Disappointed with the outcome, but it's a really big test tomorrow, really challenging. You've got one of the greatest to ever do it stepping on the ice tomorrow,” Tkachuk said, via Panthers reporter Jameson Olive.

Panthers goaltender Akira Schmid was not on his A-game on Wednesday night. The Florida netminder gave up five goals on 30 shots in this contest. His offense didn't help much, either, as they managed just 19 shots for the entire game.

It was an emotional night that Tkachuk and his teammates knew would involve a battle on the ice. With the dust settling, it appears the former Senators captain is content to file this game away as one to forget. The Senators, and especially their fans, may not allow him to live this one down any time soon.
