Angel Reese keeps finding new ways to make WNBA Finals history, and her latest mark puts her alongside one of the league’s all-time greats. Reese powered the Atlanta Dream to a 97-71 blowout of the Golden State Valkyries in Game 3 of the WNBA Finals on Wednesday night at State Farm Arena, finishing with 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting, 12 rebounds, three assists and three steals in 34 minutes.
The win gave Atlanta a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.
According to ESPN Insights, Reese is now the first player in WNBA history to record a double-double in each of her first three career Finals games. She also joined A’ja Wilson as the only players to post consecutive 20-point, 10-rebound games in a single WNBA Finals.
Reese has been a force all series. She had 14 points and 12 rebounds in her Finals debut, a 68-64 Game 1 loss, then exploded for 30 points and 16 rebounds in Game 2 to give the Dream the first Finals win in franchise history.
On Wednesday, she added another wrinkle to her game. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year knocked down two three-pointers, including one late in the first quarter that put Atlanta up 22-12. Her second triple made it 30-23 in the second quarter, and she followed it with a steal that set up a Rhyne Howard three.
The Dream remain unbeaten this season when Reese makes a three, including the regular season and playoffs, according to the WNBA.
Reese also brought plenty of energy. After drawing a foul on a layup against Aminata Gueye, she let the Valkyries hear about it before chest-bumping teammate Allisha Gray.

Gabby Williams led the Valkyries with 15 points but needed 18 shots to get there, while Cecilia Zandalasini added 13. Golden State shot just 35% from the field and will need a far better effort to avoid falling into a deep hole.
Now two wins away from the first championship in franchise history, the Dream will look to take a commanding lead when they host Game 4 on Saturday.
