The floodgates finally opened for the Florida Panthers in a 7-3 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night at Nationwide Arena — and the Tkachuk brothers were in the thick of it.
Brady and Matthew Tkachuk combined for nine points in the lopsided win, with the former recording a natural hat trick and an assist, and the latter adding five assists.
In the process, the star forwards became the third set of brothers in the past 40 years to record four or more points each in the same game, per NHL.com's Craig Merz.
“The others: Daniel and Henrik Sedin (four times; last: Nov. 21, 2015) and Peter and Anton Stastny (Feb. 21, 1988).”
Brady became the eighth player in Panthers history to score a natural hat trick. It was also the first natural hat trick in NHL history with the scorer's sibling assisting on all three goals.
“I mean, it's pretty cool,” Brady told reporters afterwards, per Merz. “It's something that, of course, you kind of always dream of happening, and it kind of happened in all the events that we've played together.
“So, for it to happen here, it probably took a little longer than expected, but it's a great feeling. And I'm just more happy with the two points for the team.”
Coming into the contest, Brady had recorded just one assist. He's now at five points in seven games as a Panther, while Matthew extended his point streak to six games and has 10 points in seven appearances.
“I've liked his game,” head coach Paul Maurice said of Brady. “Our power play struggled for a little bit and then it just needed something to go a certain way for him. There's some chemistry there, you know. He and his brother played together their whole lives as kids, and there's something there for sure.”

It was a terrific performance for the Cats, who improved to 3-2-2 after a tough 5-3 loss to the Sabres in Buffalo the day before.
With the offense starting to come alive, Florida will look to keep the positive momentum rolling at home against the Vancouver Canucks — who have lost five straight — on Thursday night.
