San Diego Padres stars Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado wasted no time making the Chicago Cubs pay in Game 1 of the National League Wild Card Series on Tuesday night at Petco Park.

Tatis opened the bottom of the first by jumping on Matthew Boyd’s first pitch and driving it 405 feet to center field at 103.4 mph. ClutchPoints shared the moment on X, formerly Twitter, as San Diego grabbed an immediate lead.

Two batters later, Machado followed it up another solo homer, pulling an offering from Boyd 391 feet to left-center as the Padres doubled their advantage. Talkin’ Baseball posted the second blast shortly afterward to the platform as Petco Park erupted into an all-out frenzy.
