As the Padres look to make some noise in the NL, this former player and analyst would share why they are a team to be feared in the playoffs.

Subsequently, speaking on the MLB Network, former pitcher Dan Plesac said that San Diego has the best bullpen out of the six teams in the NL that are in a postseason position. Explaining that the ball club doesn't need their starting pitchers to have long games, he cites them as a dangerous squad, which includes the arguable best relief pitcher in Mason Miller, who has a 1.12 ERA, 119 strikeouts, and 37 saves.

“Listen, they're one of the few teams that they don't need to get a lot of length out of their starters,” Plesac said. “The issue is…they need to get enough innings out of their rotation so teams don't get multiple looks in consecutive days. We've seen during the postseason teams that use the relievers, particularly in a seven-game series, the more often you see them, the more ineffective they get. They've got the best guy in the business, Mason Miller. [Adrian] Morejon throws 100 from the right side. They have a lot of good options.”

Dan Plesac continues praise of the Padres

Plesac would continue talking about the Padres and say that if the team's starting pitching can take them into the sixth inning and let the bullpen do the rest, “They're going to win most of the games.” Furthermore, emphasizing that San Diego has the “best bullpen in the game,” he expressed that he “wouldn't want to play” the team in a five-game series.

“They get good pitching performances out of the starters. They're going to create a lot of problems,” Plesac said.
