The Green Bay Packers are currently exploring options ahead of the NFL trade deadline, which is set for November 10 at 4:00 pm ET. The Packers are also gearing up for their upcoming tough road game against the New England Patriots as they look for their sixth win on the season.
Recently, NFL insider Dan Graziano of ESPN broke down the Packers' outlook ahead of the deadline, and how that is affected by the legal status of running back Josh Jacobs.
“…the Packers have checked in on running backs (Josh Jacobs' situation remains a major question mark) as well as offensive linemen,” reported Graziano on ESPN.com.
Jacobs recently made his season debut for the Packers in a win over the Carolina Panthers after he was removed from the Commissioner's Exempt list and played well, scoring a touchdown in the contest.
Jacobs was put on the list to begin with after pleading no contest to misdemeanor battery and property damage charges stemming from an offseason arrest, although he is still under investigation by the league, which could hand down further discipline depending on its findings, including a potential suspension. The games that Jacobs served on the exempt list would be counted as part of the suspension.
Meanwhile, the biggest name on the running back market is Indianapolis Colts star Jonathan Taylor, as the Colts have already started a trade deadline fire sale amid their disastrous first half of the season. It remains to be seen how big the Packers are willing to swing in their quest to add more depth next to Taylor in the running back department.
