The Green Bay Packers escaped an upset bid from the Jets, securing a 20-17 Week 2 win, and are looking to perform better in the coming weeks. The team's defense has looked fierce, led by Lukas Van Ness, while fellow star pass rusher Micah Parsons is on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list and doing his best to lead from the sidelines.

Parsons has continued to make headlines while rehabbing his left knee after a torn ACL and meniscus damage dating back to last season. According to reporter Ian Rapoport, he plans to make the most of his time off the field by taking on a massive new off-field role for the Packers.

“As the Packers face the Falcons, Micah Parsons continues to rehab his knee,” Rapoport wrote. “He's also added some off-the-field responsibilities, having been elected as the Packers voting player rep for the NFLPA. He joins other high-profile player reps such as Colts RB Jonathan Taylor.”

Fans are waiting patiently for Parsons' return after a timeframe was teased recently. The former Penn State star has 10-plus sacks in each of the last five seasons and looks like a perfect fit alongside the wrecking ball Van Ness, who had ten tackles and 1.5 sacks against the Jets to help save the day.

The Packers have big games against the Buccaneers, Bears, Cowboys and Lions on tap as quarterback Jordan Love seeks to regain his highly productive Week 1 form. Coach Matt LaFleur's team has its work cut out for it in a rugged NFC North, but the Bears and Lions are among teams suffering from major depth and injury concerns.

Parsons could be the X-factor in what figures to be a tight divisional race. The Packers don't want to rush him back on the field, and he now has more ways to keep busy off of it as he prepares for his big 2026-27 return.
