Oregon football fans could not fully enjoy their team's victory over USC after star quarterback Dante Moore suffered a frightening injury that resulted in him being carted off the field. However, during an extremely difficult moment for Moore and the Ducks, UCLA head coach Bob Chesney drew attention for showing compassion toward the opposing quarterback.

Oregon is now preparing to face UCLA in its next game. While an injury to an opponent's star quarterback can often provide a competitive advantage, Chesney approached the situation differently. During an appearance on the Jim Rome Show, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning revealed that Chesney reached out and offered to personally check on Moore.

“He text me as they were traveling back to LA and said, ‘Hey, if you need my help with Dante or anything and he's still in LA, I'll go check on this guy. I'm giving the team off tomorrow; let me know.' It speaks to the kind of person he is,” Lanning said via Brian Jones of On3.

Moore suffered the injury during the second quarter of Oregon vs. USC. The quarterback scrambled before beginning to slide, but USC linebacker Desman Stephens II delivered a late hit to Moore's head and neck area.

Moore remained motionless on the field following the collision before being transported directly by ambulance to LA General County Hospital. Lanning later provided an encouraging medical update, confirming that Moore's MRI and CT scans showed no structural or spinal damage. His condition was ultimately diagnosed as a concussion.

Moore is now going through the concussion protocol, leaving his availability uncertain for Oregon's upcoming matchup against UCLA. The Ducks will continue monitoring his recovery as the quarterback works through the necessary steps before potentially returning to action.

Moore has established himself as one of the nation's top quarterbacks since becoming Oregon's full-time starter in 2025. Now with an undefeated UCLA team waiting next, Lanning and Oregon will be hoping for positive news about their star quarterback.
