The outside noise, plus the inclement weather, did not bother Jameis Winston on Sunday, as he led the New York Giants past the Tennessee Titans, 12-7, at MetLife Stadium.
Playing their first game without Jaxson Dart, Winston seized the moment and went 12-of-18 passes for 117 yards. They were not eye-popping numbers, but they were enough to fend off the Titans and help the Giants improve to 2-1.
The 32-year-old quarterback clapped back at doubters for questioning his meager output. He stressed that he can still lead a squad even without throwing for 500 yards.
“When God allows me to manage a football game, now it's, ‘Does he still have it?' I mean, I ain't seen a lot of quarterbacks go 62% for less than 150 yards and win a football game,” said Winston in a video posted by the New York Post's Ryan Dunleavy.
“It's a question (for me) because it's the identity, right? What y'all are used to. That's why assumptions make an (a** out of you and me). So, again, my desire is to score some touchdowns, you know? That's where my focus is.”

Due to the rainy weather, the Giants chose to keep the ball on the ground. Cam Skattebo had 20 carries for 60 yards, while Najee Harris added nine carries for 52 yards.
“I'm so encouraged because we were inside the five-yard line twice! That's what I'm talking about. Building on the positives and eliminating the negatives,” added Winston.
The defense also came up big for New York, with Jevon Holland intercepting Cam Ward's pass with 17 seconds left to preserve the win.
It was not pretty, but the Giants, especially Winston, would gladly take any win.
New York will host the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4.
