The Oklahoma Sooners suffered a brutal 21-13 loss at home to the Kentucky Wildcats last week after John Mateer's interception-filled game. Brent Venables and the Sooners will be looking to bounce back against the Mississippi State Bulldogs this week, and they could potentially get a key player back for that game.
Pete Nakos of On3 reports that Oklahoma offensive lineman Michael Fasusi will be a game-time decision to play against the Bulldogs.
Fasusi has been out since suffering a shoulder injury during the opening game of the season against UTEP, where he played in just 17 snaps. He had a fantastic true freshman season in 2025 as he started 10 of 11 games at left tackle for Oklahoma. The Sooners have missed his presence as they've struggled through a 3-3 start to the season.
Their performance against Kentucky was particularly eye-catching as the offensive line suffered from injuries. Ryan Fodje, who has filled in at left tackle for Fasusi, was visibly limited by injuries. That played a part in Mateer's struggles as he threw three interceptions and was sacked several times.
Article Continues BelowEven if he does get cleared to play, it remains to be seen just how effective Fasusi can be after a lengthy injury layoff. But given the recent struggles of the Sooners offensive line, they need all the help they can get. Fodje and Eddy Pierre-Louis have already been ruled out for the game, which will put even more strain on an already thin position group.
Fasusi was also listed as questionable against Kentucky but did not play. With Fodje out, the Sooners will need their star left tackle back on the field on Saturday against Mississippi State.
