Ohio State football star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith has already captured the nation’s attention with his impressive performances for the Buckeyes. As his college resume continues to expand, his exceptional run has also earned high praise from Nick Saban, who did not hesitate to draw a notable comparison when discussing the young receiver.
During a recent sit-down on the Rich Eisen Show, Saban shared his thoughts on Smith’s Heisman Trophy potential while comparing his overall presence to NFL legend and former Alabama star Julio Jones, whom Saban previously viewed as a rare talent.
“The Heisman is a tough one. But I will say this, he's one of the most dominant players in college football. I mean, he really is that guy who is big and strong. I thought Julio Jones was kind of one of a kind. Back in the day, when we had him, but this guy reminds me of him in a lot of ways. And going to have a fantastic career. And he's had a fantastic career as a college player,” Saban said.
This week, Smith once again delivered a spectacular performance while helping Ohio State cruise to a 42-19 win over Illinois. His outstanding showing helped the Buckeyes extend their winning streak against the Illini to 10 consecutive games.

The Buckeyes' wide receiver has continued to showcase talent that has made him one of the most talked-about players in college football. His latest performance moved him into the national lead in receiving yards with 617 and receiving yards per game at 154.3.
The 3–1 Ohio State Buckeyes will now travel to Iowa to face the Hawkeyes on Oct. 3. The matchup against Iowa is expected to provide Ohio State with its second significant test of the season.
