The Seattle Seahawks looked just fine without quarterback Sam Darnold against the Arizona Cardinals Sunday. Seattle's defense has looked just as efficient with star safety Nick Emmanwori not 100 percent. But the unit is ready to look even scarier, with Emmanwori's return.

Head coach Mike Macdonald addressed Emmanwori's limited action versus the NFC West rival on Monday. Including what he liked seeing out of the returning defender.

“It was great for him to get the confidence back, get him moving,” Macdonald told reporters. “He got a couple rushes in, which was cool. So we should be really accelerating into next week.”

Emmanwori created one quarterback pressure inside State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Seattle rolled to the massive 31-7 trouncing of the Cards, which also ruined the home debut of new head coach Mike LaFleur.

Seattle bottled Arizona to only 151 total yards of offense, including holding the Cards to just 81 passing yards. The Seahawks grabbed two sacks on the afternoon in improving to 2-0 overall.

But fans of the ‘Hawks have seen the direct impact Emmanwori brings to the field when called upon. He's risen as the interchangeable safety on the backend in the post Kam Chancellor era of Seahawks football. Emmanwori impacts the game off his coverage versatility plus possessing enough size and athleticism to play closer to the line of scrimmage, then wrecking running attacks in the process.

Seattle earns a chance to improve to 3-0 overall against the Washington Commanders next, who'll be without star quarterback Jayden Daniels, who left the Dallas Cowboys loss with a scary elbow injury.
