Apparently, this week was not a good week to be an NFL quarterback. Week 2 of the 2026 NFL season saw three young quarterbacks suffer potentially serious injuries. Chicago Bears' Caleb Williams, Washington Commanders' Jayden Daniels, and New York Giants' Jaxson Dart were three of the notable quarterbacks who went down with an injury of some sort in Week 2.
Let's take a closer look at some of the notable injuries around the NFL.
Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears were already having a dreadful Week 2. After scoring 59 points in Week 1, their mighty offense was held to just three points by the Minnesota Vikings. To make matters worse, quarterback Caleb Williams was carted off the field after going down in the fourth quarter. Williams scrambled out of the pocket but went down screaming in pain while rolling out.
The Bears have reported that Williams is âÂÂday-to-dayâ with a hamstring injury. While it's possible that the quarterback misses some time, head coach Ben Johnson isn't ruling out the possibility of him suiting up for the Bears in Week 3
Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders
Jayden Daniels' awful injury luck continues to haunt the Washington Commanders in 2026. The star quarterback missed a good chunk of the 2025 season due to multiple injuries, including an elbow injury. Now in 2026, Daniels suffered a similar injury, dislocating his elbow during the Washington Commanders' loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Daniels has already been ruled out for Week 3 as doctors scramble to figure out his timeline. Veteran quarterback Marcus Mariota will once again take over for the Commanders in the interim.
Jaxson Dart and Brian Burns, New York Giants
Dart is another NFC East quarterback who's shown to be quite injury-prone throughout the course of his young career. The New York Giants quarterback suffered multiple concussions in his first year in the league in 2025. Unfortunately, Dart suffered a different kind of injury in Week 2. Dart suffered a knee injury after a rather gruesome hit he took in the first quarter. To make matters worse for the Giants, Brian Burns also suffered a leg injury towards the end of the game.
Dart was ruled out for the rest of the game. That being said, initial reports say that Dart suffered a sprained MCL: still a serious injury, but one that is much less severe than what fans initially feared. As for Burns, an official diagnosis is yet to be released.
DeMarcus Robinson and Mike Evans, San Francisco 49ers
The hits just keep on coming for the San Francisco 49ers. The Niners already lost Ricky Pearsall for the rest of the year due to injury. De'Zhaun Stribling is also out for at least two months with an injury. In Week 2, two more Niners wide receivers suffered injuries: DeMarcus Robinson and Mike Evans, who both exited their game against the Miami Dolphins.
Robinson is slated to miss three to six weeks with a high ankle sprain. Evans, on the other hand, is dealing with a hip injury, though his prognosis seems to be more positive.
Jayden Reed, Green Bay Packers
After missing most of the 2025 season with a leg injury, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed suffered another injury in Week 2. This time, the Packers WR suffered a reported back injury after a hard fall. There's no clear timetable for his return yet.
Other notable injuries in the NFL include Falcons cornerback AJ Terrell (groin), Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce (foot), Seahawks running back Jadarian Price (chest), Eagles running back Saquon Barkley (stinger) and tight end Dallas Goedert (knee), and Steelers running back Rico Dowdle (toe).
