Week 7 asks fantasy managers to look past the name on the jersey and focus on the matchup. Some of the quarterbacks below have been inconsistent, and one is a proven star, but the defenses they face have given up a lot of fantasy points or very few.

Here is Week 7's Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Quarterbacks:

Week 7 Start ‘Em

Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix (10) looks to throw in the second half against the Seattle Seahawks at Empower Field at Mile High

Bo Nix, Denver Broncos at Arizona Cardinals

Nix is the uncomfortable recommendation that demands an explanation. He ranks QB32 in fantasy points per game, has finished with single digits in three of six appearances, and threw for just 107 yards last week. There is no statistical reason to pretend he has been dependable.

Arizona, however, offers a legitimate escape hatch. The Cardinals surrender 22.6 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, fourth-most in the league, and have allowed 16 passing touchdowns against three interceptions. They also entered Week 6 allowing a league-worst 8.5 net yards per attempt.

That combination gives Nix a rebound opportunity. Start him in superflex; consider him a matchup-driven streamer in one-quarterback leagues rather than a safe weekly starter.

CJ Stroud, Houston Texans vs. New York Giants

Stroud brings stronger recent evidence than Nix. His 312-yard, three-touchdown performance in London provides momentum, even if his season-long QB15 scoring average keeps him outside automatic-start territory.

The Giants allow 21.7 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, sixth-most, with 12 passing touchdowns and three quarterback rushing scores conceded. They also played last week without cornerback Colton Hood and safety Tyler Nubin. Monitor their availability rather than assuming either remains sidelined.

Stroud does not need rushing production to exploit this matchup. The passing-touchdown allowance creates enough upside to make him a fringe QB1 and a straightforward superflex start.

Geno Smith, New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins

Smith’s appeal is less about chasing a spectacular ceiling and more about identifying attainable production. He just threw for 252 yards and a touchdown at New England, demonstrating that another useful passing performance is within reach.

Miami allows 18.8 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, ninth-most. More importantly, the Dolphins have surrendered at least 245 passing yards, multiple passing touchdowns, or both in four consecutive games.

Their bye provides preparation time, not proof of improvement. At home, Smith is a reasonable streaming option with a path to both yardage and touchdowns.

Week 7 Sit ‘Em

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs at Seattle Seahawks

Mahomes ranks QB12 in points per game, but his early-season momentum has cooled. Kansas City has leaned on Kenneth Walker III while Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton deal with injuries, complicating the passing game’s outlook.

Seattle permits just 13.5 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, second-fewest, and has seven interceptions through six games. The Seahawks also held Denver to 2.9 yards per play and enter Sunday night with a rest advantage.

Mahomes can overcome difficult opponents, but fantasy decisions should weigh probability over celebrity. Treat him as a high-end QB2; bench him in one-quarterback leagues if you have a stronger matchup.

Tyler Shough, New Orleans Saints vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Shough’s QB11 scoring average deserves respect, but Pittsburgh allows only 14.5 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, fifth-fewest.

That defensive resistance lowers his appeal in Paris. Sit him for a comparable quarterback with an easier opponent in one-quarterback leagues, while retaining him as an acceptable superflex option.
