With Jake Paul now looking for a comeback fight, fans recently saw celebrity boxer Tommy Fury emerge as a potential choice. While Paul is all set to make his comeback from a broken jaw injury, he has no confirmed opponent.
In the last several months, several new opponent choices have emerged for Paul's return fight, with names such as Tommy Fury and Francis Ngannou topping the list. However, MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian has now ruled out those two top names.
Bidarian claimed that the 29-year-old's return won't be a rematch with Fury or a crossover bout with former UFC heavyweight champion Ngannou. Instead, Paul will return to fight in the cruiserweight division.
“We're talking to a lot of people, not saying a lot of people's names, but what I will say is we're hopeful in the next two weeks we will announce his return and his opponent,” Bidarian said. “We've talked to many different opponents, it's no secret we tried to do the Tommy Fury rematch, and that is not longer in discussion, I will say that. We're actively looking at all types of opponents but also taking into account he's been out for a year, he's coming back from a broken jaw,” Bidarian said. (via ESPN)

“The date, time, and location depends on how quickly I can get the opponent done and the distribution of the fight appropriately figured out based on that opponent. If it takes us another 3-4 weeks to figure this out, there’s not gonna be a fight this year; it’s probably early next year. If we figure it out in the next 24 hours, we’ll hopefully get a fight in this year… We’re trying our best to get it done,” he finished.
