This weekend, before Ole Miss and LSU's football game kicks off, acclaimed actor Morgan Freeman will join the desk as the guest celebrity picker on ESPN College GameDay.

He appeared on the Pat McAfee Show on Thursday, Sep. 17, 2026, to announce he would be the guest picker for this weekend's Ole Miss-LSU game on College GameDay. Freeman appears pumped to be part of it.

"I'm looking forward to being there on Saturday..

You may be wondering, what ties does Freeman have to Ole Miss? It comes down to love. He explained that he's “tied up” with an ex-Ole Miss professor, and they are “intimate with what happens there.”

“I have my own feelings about Ole Miss, the football and basketball [teams]. I'm looking forward to being there on Saturday, and I'm looking forward to this game, I promise you,” he said.

Freeman's appearance on College GameDay comes a week after Texas Longhorns superfan Glen Powell joined the desk in Austin. The Longhorns went on to erase a 23-3 fourth-quarter deficit to win the game.

While Freeman was born in Memphis, Tennessee, he was raised in Mississippi. Obviously, his upbringing, as well as his partner, play a huge role in his Ole Miss fandom.

The upcoming showdown between Ole Miss and LSU will be special. It's a heated rivalry, and head coach Lane Kiffin's return to Vaught–Hemingway Stadium is the biggest storyline.

Kiffin previously served as the Rebels' head coach from 2020 to 2025. However, he left to coach the Tigers in late 2025. He wanted to keep coaching the Rebels during their playoff run, but that would not happen.

Ole Miss and LSU are 2-0 heading into their Week 3 matchup. The Rebels won the last chapter in the Magnolia Bowl during the 2025 season. We'll see if the Tigers' luck turns around in 2026.
