Missouri football earned a 27-6 win over Texas A&M on Saturday. However, the Tigers' on-field success was not the only thing on head coach Eli Drinkwitz's mind.
After the victory, Drinkwitz delivered a heartfelt message of support for offensive lineman Johnnie “DJ” Jones, who recently underwent a successful heart transplant.
“We're so thankful and grateful for the situation with DJ, and just appreciative that there was the availability to have a heart, you know, thinking about the donor and their family and what they had to go through,” Drinkwitz said.
Article Continues Below“But knowing that there's still a lot of work left to be done for DJ and a lot of prayers he still needs. It's awesome to win, but the outcome doesn't change how we feel about DJ, and if we didn't win the game, we'd still love him.”
