Michigan football is now 3-0 this season. While it was a struggle in Week 1, needing a miracle to beat Western Michigan, Michigan has improved each week, beating Oklahoma and UTEP.

As Michigan preps for a Top 25 showdown with Iowa on Saturday, they are getting news about one of the offensive linemen, per Clayton Sayfie of On3.

“Andrew Sprague, gosh, that’s a tough question,” head coach Kyle Whittingham said baout the return of the lineman. “I think it could be anywhere from this week to several weeks, so we just don’t know. And that’s what we’re trying to sort through that — not we, but the medical staff — making sure we get the exact diagnosis to treat this thing the right way. But he’s a big part of what we’re doing, so we hope to have him back sooner than later.”

Sprague was a last-second scratch to the lineup against UTEP. He informed Whittingham that he was unable to go less than 24 hours before that game.

“My response was, ‘What? Why? What? What happened between a half hour ago and now?’ And it was just a weird thing,” Whittingham said. “But hopefully we get Andrew back. That’s the major concern right now, and the primary concern is his health and making sure we can get him back to where he needs to be.”

Sprague has been the starting right tackle for the Wolverines. With him out of the lineup, Blake Fraizer moved from the left side to the right side to take his place. Meanwhile, Evan Link moved from left guard to left tackle, while Nathan Efobi got the start at guard. Whittingham was happy with the performance of the line, considering they did not get any reps in the configuration they were placed in.

Further, Whittingham also provided an update on running back Jordan Marshall, who has been working through a lower-body injury.

“Jordan will be available, unless there’s a setback during the course of the week,” Whittingham said. “He came out of this game feeling much better than what he came out of last game, so there’s progress there.”

Michigan and Iowa are set for a Top 25 clash on Saturday, with kickoff set for 3:30 pm ET.
