Packers defensive end Micah Parsons said last week that he’s “gonna make sure everything is right” before he returns from last season’s torn ACL and that won’t happen this week.
Head coach Matt LaFleur said at his Monday press conference that Parsons will not be formally designated for return from the physically unable to perform list ahead of this week’s game against the Lions. LaFleur didn’t rule anything out for Week 8 even though the Packers will have a quick turnaround to a Thursday game against the Panthers.
“I think there are things you can do on a short week if you’ve got a guy like that to get him primed and ready to go,” LaFleur said. “He’s gotta clear some hurdles before we get to that point.”
Parsons said last week that he want to do all he can to avoid any kind of “overcompensation injury” upon his return and that would seem to work against the idea of returning during a week with little actual practice time. The Packers would then have a little more time to ramp Parsons up to a Week 9 game against the Patriots, but any thoughts of seeing him in the lineup will have to wait for that first step back on the practice field.
