The Seattle Mariners missed the playoffs this year after ending the 2026 season with a 76-86 record. It was a noticeably tough campaign for Cal Raleigh and Josh Naylor, as neither of them seemed capable of getting hot at the plate. On Monday, reports revealed that both players are now recovering from surgeries.
The organization announced as such on Monday, claiming that both Raleigh and Naylor will make full recoveries and be ready to play come spring training in 2027. It's not entirely clear when the injuries started affecting them, but with the offseason underway, it appears surgery was the best option for both individuals.
“Josh Naylor and Cal Raleigh both underwent successful procedures and are expected to be ready for 2027 spring training,” the Mariners announced.
Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports revealed that Raleigh underwent surgery on his left shoulder. It's said that the 29-year-old catcher had an acromioclavicular debridement procedure. Meanwhile, Naylor's underwent triangular fibrocartilage complex repair surgery on his right wrist.
