When Issa Rae touches it, history shows it's something fire.

Issa Rae’s latest investment connects her growing business portfolio with women’s basketball. Unrivaled announced October 5 that the actor, producer, and entrepreneur joined its investor group through a Series C funding round that brought the league’s valuation to $650 million.

The league announced that oversubscribed round in August. Rae’s participation marks her first investment covering an entire league, adding a new chapter to her ventures across entertainment and sports.

For Rae, the decision followed a visit during Unrivaled’s previous season.

“After experiencing Unrivaled firsthand last season, it was clear that they’re building something special,” Rae said. “I look forward to being part of the league’s growth and success to come.”

She also pointed to the league’s work supporting elite women’s basketball talent as a reason to put her money behind it.
