Some of the New York Knicks' celebrity fans, like Timothée Chalamet, Ben Stiller, Spike Lee, and Tracy Morgan, were there for Karl-Anthony Towns' dad amid his health emergency.
KAT's father's health scare from March 2026 was recounted in a story by The Athletic. Initially, it was believed to be food poisoning. Upon examination, doctors discovered an intestinal blockage that required surgery. Towns had to be with his father, and luckily, his team supported him.
“That was at the end of the season, too, and I missed every practice, I missed every shootaround,” Towns recalled. “I only showed up to play the games, and I went right back to the hospital. Shoutout to my team.”
Even more impressive is that some of the Knicks superfans reached out. Chalamet, Lee, and Morgan all asked about Big Karl, while Stiller even offered to visit him.
“I’m really honored that these people on Celebrity Row not only look at my dad as a celebrity, but look at dad as a real friend,” said KAT.
Article Continues BelowLuckily, Towns was able to lock in before the playoffs began. During the playoffs, Towns averaged 15.9 points per game, a step back from his average a year earlier (21.4 points per game).
He started 19 games during the Knicks' championship run. His best series was against the Atlanta Hawks. He averaged 18.7 points, 11.3 rebounds, and six assists per game in the six-game series. He also had two triple-doubles in that stretch.
In the NBA Finals, he did a great job against Victor Wembanyama, though KAT regularly found himself in foul trouble. He had four or more personal fouls in each NBA Finals game, fouling out of Game 5.
Luckily, the team's captain, Jalen Brunson, picked up the slack, especially in Game 5. He scored 45 points en route to the Knicks' Game 5 win, earning the franchise its first championship in 53 years.
