The Sacramento Kings' media day took an unexpected turn after a hot-mic recording captured two female reporters thirsting over guards Zach LaVine and Ben Simmons.

The incident happened Monday as reporters waited for the Kings to begin their introductory press conference for the season. During the conversation, two female reporters were heard on a hot mic talking about LaVine.

“Hella fine!” one of the women said about LaVine. “I mean, his personality annoys the s*** out of me, so that's what makes him less fine.”

“Zach is cute, but his personality f****** annoys me,” added the other woman. “He just seems like he's hella, like a p****… He's beautiful.”

The recording quickly spread online, turning the comments into a major talking point. The identities of the two reporters have not been confirmed. Neither LaVine nor Simmons has publicly addressed the conversation.

However, LaVine's wife, Hunter, responded to the viral clip on social media. After seeing an Instagram post featuring the recording, Hunter LaVine commented, “a great start to the season!” on Monday. She also shared the video on her Instagram Story accompanied by several laughing-face emojis.

Hunter continued her response on Tuesday by reposting a photograph from LaVine's media day shoot. Alongside the image, she wrote, “I love my husband’s personality,” directly addressing the comments made about the 31-year-old's character.

The reporters' conversation also included compliments toward Simmons, who signed a one-year, $3.5 million deal with the Kings, including remarks about his appearance and skin.

Meanwhile, LaVine exercised his $49 million player option for the 2026-27 season with the Kings back in June. The two-time NBA All-Star somehow became part of the awkward media day conversation that has continued circulating online after the hot-mic recording was clipped and widely shared across social media.
