Duke running back Nate Sheppard has been listed as questionable for Saturday's rivalry matchup against North Carolina, putting his status for the Battle for the Victory Bell in doubt. The sophomore has been a central figure in the Blue Devils' offense this season, leading the nation in rushing yards per game and all-purpose yards per game.

Sheppard has accumulated 743 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 118 carries through five games. He has also contributed 17 receptions for 161 yards and three receiving touchdowns, giving him 11 touchdowns this season. His 148.6 rushing yards and 180.8 all-purpose yards per game lead the country.

The nature of Sheppard's injury remains undisclosed. His status could become clearer when Duke releases its next injury report on Friday.

The Blue Devils enter the contest with a 4-1 record after suffering their first defeat of the season, a 28-25 loss to Georgia Tech. Duke rallied to take a late lead before the Yellow Jackets scored the game-winning touchdown. The Blue Devils subsequently missed a field goal that would have tied the game.
