It may now be all but confirmed by Marvel that Cody Rhodes is part of the MCU's X-Men after his recent comments during an interview.

Speaking to Nerdist, the “American Nightmare” seemingly slipped when talking about what he is a “nerd” about. He said, “I'm an X-Men. I nerd out about that,” before saying that he also nerds out about anything involving Patrick Stewart, who famously plays Professor X.

I’m sorry Cody, YOU’RE A WHAT?!?!?!?

The way Schulz stays on his neck bc he knows he can’t say anything but Cody can’t help himself anyway is so funny 😭

He’s so excited to tell us, I can’t wait ♥️#StreetFighter || #QB1🍦 pic.twitter.com/vQRAYnlYEh

His Street Fighter co-star Andrew Schulz wanted to go back to what he said. Rhodes tried to keep the conversation moving, not addressing his comments further.

It's unknown whether Rhodes meant to spoil being cast in an X-Men project or not. However, he didn't seem remorseful for saying what he said.

Fans will have to wait and see if Marvel confirms that Rhodes is cast in X-Men. A jump to the MCU would be impressive, given how new he is to the business.

He had his first major non-WWE-produced role in The Naked Gun in 2025, sharing the screen with Liam Neeson. He plays Guile in the upcoming Street Fighter movie. Another WWE star, his former rival Roman Reigns, is also in it as Akuma.

Rhodes has been teasing an X-Men role for a while. The rumors first began swirling after he posted a picture at Marvel Studios' office in August 2026. He added fuel to the fire shortly after, using the X-Men '97 theme in a post on his Instagram Stories.

More recently, he joked about dying his hair “dark” if he turned heel. One of the others on the podcast suggested he sport a blonde streak in his dark hair, which Schulz compared to the Marvel Comics character Rogue.

The “American Nightmare” tried to shrug off the comment, but Schulz wouldn't let it go. Rhodes said the hairstyle would look “like you just got struck by lightning,” prompting Schulz to ask, “What franchise is Rogue in?” Rhodes just looked at him. To his credit, he revealed nothing.
