With LeBron James entering his debut season with the Philadelphia 76ers, it’s been confirmed that he will split time between Philly and New York while traveling via helicopter. During the early days of training camp, his new 76ers teammates have been accustomed to hearing the landing and taking off of the helicopter, with Justin Edwards being the latest to experience it.

Justin Edwards was in the middle of an availability session with 76ers media members when the unmistakable sound of LeBron James’ helicopter could be heard outside the building, as per NBC Sports Philadelphia.

“Is he coming back?” Edwards jokingly asked as the whirl of the helicopter intensified.

Jokes aside, Edwards is going to be one of the players Sixers brass is counting on this season to make an impact off the bench. The team obviously has top-heavy talent, but they’ll need consistent depth if they want to seriously contend for a championship.

After going undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft, the former Kentucky standout caught on with the 76ers via two-way contract. Following his rookie season, Edwards was rewarded with a standard three-year deal. This will be the second season of that contract.

Last year, Edwards appeared in a career-best 64 games, including 12 starts, at a little over 15 minutes per game. He averaged 6.0 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists with splits of 44.7 percent shooting from the field, 37.2 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 84.6 percent shooting from the free-throw line.

Edwards most likely will slot in as the 76ers’ backup forward able to slot in at either the three or the four.
