The Louisville Cardinals aim to get back in the win column in Week 5 when they take on the NC State Wolfpack. However, Lincoln Kienholz is still dealing with an undisclosed lower-body injury in his left leg, and it appears his status is completely up in the air for Saturday.

Reports indicate that the redshirt junior will be a game-time decision, according to Brett McMurphy and Pete Nakos of On3 Sports. His official status will not be revealed until he participates in warm-ups. It's also not clear which backup quarterback will get the start if Kienholz does not play, as head coach Jeff Brohm hasn't yet made a decision.

“Louisville QB Lincoln Kienholz remains a game-time decision for tomorrow at NC State, sources tell Brett McMurhpy and [Pete Nakos] for On3 Sports,” Nakos posted on X. “Will evaluate and decide after warmups. Davin Wydner or Briggs Cherry would get the start if Kienholz can't go.”

The 22-year-old signal- caller sustained the injury after taking a hard hit during Louisville's final offensive drive in the 30-27 Week 4 loss to the Wake Forest Decom Deacons. It appeared he fell awkwardly after the hit, which led to the apparent injury in his left leg. Kienholz finished that contest with 324 passing yards, three total touchdowns (one passing, two rushing), and one interception while completing 75.0% of his pass attempts.

Louisville is scheduled to take on NC State at 3:30 p.m. EST. Based on the reporting, the starting quarterback for the Cardinals likely won't be known until moments before kickoff.
