The New Orleans Saints desperately need another weapon on offense, but they will have to wait a little longer for first-round rookie Jordyn Tyson to make his NFL debut.

The wide receiver is progressing in his recovery from a hamstring injury, yet head coach Kellen Moore confirmed Monday that Tyson is not ready to return to practice this week.

According to ESPN's Mike Triplett, Moore was asked whether Tyson would resume practicing this week and responded, “Not right now.” However, the Saints coach added that the rookie is progressing well, matching expectations that Tyson would return to the practice field soon. New Orleans appears determined not to rush the young receiver back before he is ready.

The timing is frustrating for a Saints offense that needs all the help it can get. New Orleans is coming off a disappointing loss to the Minnesota Vikings, and the lack of reliable weapons beyond Chris Olave has made life difficult for the offense. Tyson was selected eighth overall in the 2026 NFL Draft for a reason, and the Saints hope he can eventually become a major difference-maker in their passing game.

Tyson has the talent to provide that spark, but his hamstring injury has kept him sidelined since training camp. He has yet to make his regular-season debut, leaving the Saints without one of their most intriguing offensive additions. His return will give quarterback Tyler Shough another playmaker and take some of the pressure off Olave.

New Orleans cannot afford to rush Tyson back and risk prolonging the injury, especially with the rookie expected to play a big role once healthy. Still, every missed week is another opportunity lost for a struggling offense to build chemistry and find consistency.
