On Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026, former WWE wrestler Gable Steveson faced off against Sean Sharaf in his second-ever UFC fight. However, their match finished before it could even properly start. Steveson suffered a humiliating loss against Sharaf within 12 seconds.

Sharaf knocked out Steveson with a left-handed shot in the first round. This marked Steveson’s first loss in professional MMA, taking his unbeaten record to 4-1. Before this loss, Steveson had won his first three fights against Braden Peterson, Kevin Hein, Hugo Lezama, and Elisha Ellison.

Moments after losing, Steveson immediately exited the octagon, raising eyebrows and sparking controversy online. However, Steveson's trainer and mentor, UFC veteran Jon Jones, has now taken responsibility for his act. Steveson had immediately left the octagon rather than sticking around to congratulate his opponent, Sean Sharaf, on his victory.

Before UFC announcer Bruce Buffer could even announce the winner, Steveson had bolted to the back to receive medical attention. Now, Jones broke his silence on social media and took all the blame for it. Jones admitted that he had sent Steveson backstage immediately after the fight was over.

“I’ve seen some reports on line and I really wanted to clear the air. It was my decision to take Gable [Steveson] straight to the back after the fight. Honestly it was the first time in this situation for me and my instant reaction was to get my friend to the back to make sure he was ok.

“Gable’s work ethic and will to win is there and I stand by him and believe he will go on to be one of the best heavyweights in the ufc. He will be back I’m sure of it,” Jon Jones wrote on social media.

Steveson has been one of the most hyped athletes in every sport he joined. From being hailed as WWE's next biggest superstar to a prospect in the NFL, and now in the UFC, Steveson has been a part of several sports. For those who don't know, the 26-year-old is also a 2020 Olympic gold medalist.
