Regarded as one of the greatest pro-wrestlers of all time, WWE legend and current TNA star Matt Hardy is still going strong at 52 years old. A former WWE and TNA tag team champion, Hardy recently formed a partnership with Moose on TNA Impact to take on The Syx.
However, ahead of that, Hardy answered a few exclusive questions from ClutchPoints, where he opened up about his retirement plans. Over the age of 50 and nearing his career's dusk, Hardy was asked what his retirement might look like.
While not ready to hang up his boots anytime soon, Hardy claimed that the retirement question at this stage of his career is understandable. “We have not talked about that. We get that question quite a bit now, which is understandable. But we've never really thought about what our retirement match would be, or how to get to it, or what to do,” he said.
Hardy further added that he would like his last match to be him and Jeff Hardy taking on Edge and Christian Cage in a ladder match. “Kind of end things that way. Because it started for us there, as I said earlier. That's the match where it changed. We all became stars that night. I don't know, man. I'm just feeling good, and I'm just trying to give back, trying to help the next generation, trying to make pro wrestling as prevalent and as good as it can be right now,” he added.
As a WWE veteran, it would only be justified for him to earn a WWE Hall of Fame induction like many of his colleagues. When asked about getting another WrestleMania moment and a Hall of Fame induction, he said, “I would love for it to happen. It would be great. It would be cool, especially if the circumstances were right and all the stars and the planets were aligned. It would be very cool.”
However, as of now, Hardy is a regular on TNA and wrestles almost on a weekly basis on the Impact episodes. Currently in a feud with Syx, Hardy did not share anything concrete about making a jump to WWE.
WWE veteran Matt Hardy addresses the online negativity about TNA PPV numbers
Answering ClutchPoints' questions via Casino.org US, Hardy was asked about the ongoing social media negativity about TNA's PPV numbers. Earlier this year, in Jan. 2026, TNA premiered on the AMC Network and has been a regular on the channel.
However, despite their weekly shows and extremely good PPVs, there has been recurring negative social media banter about the promotion's PPV numbers and gate attendance. “It's natural. People criticise everything, now more than ever, especially if you're someone who is actively online. I almost feel bad for people to get into wrestling now and have to read what people say to them after they perform, especially if they're a younger guy and they haven't gotten used to it, or they haven't learned how to [handle it].
“Social media is so interesting, because when people are posting their opinions, that often does not reflect reality. And sometimes it's hard for people to look past that and understand that. And even with TNA, our ratings have been so much further up than they were on AXS TV. The highest show that we had done, we did 307,000, 309,000 viewers live, and it was the one that featured the Righteous Deletion, us vs. the Righteous.
“That was a very story-driven, character-based programme altogether, and it was our blow-off. So it just showed that people cared about that programme. So with that being said, I think TNA is doing good. We're holding the path. We go against football, and our numbers are still coming up on Thursday night, even going against the NFL, which does massive numbers,” he finished.
Matt Hardy is very positive about Zilla Fatu's addition to WWE's John Cena Classic

Earlier this week, on the Nov. 4, 2026 episode of WWE NXT, John Cena appeared and announced Zilla Fatu as the second addition to the upcoming John Cena Classic. When asked Matt Hardy about his thoughts on Fatu's addition, he shared an extremely positive feeling about it.
“Zilla is certainly gonna benefit from entering that. We're big Zilla guys. We were obviously real close with his dad. I remember when he was a little baby, man. And it's so cool that we've got to work with him and against him a couple times recently, and I'm so happy he ended up going to WWE. I certainly think he'll benefit. I think someone like Ethan Page, who I'm a big fan of as well, would benefit from being in it also,” he finished.
The John Cena Classic is scheduled to take place on Dec. 14, 2026. The John Cena Classic will be taking place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World in Kissimmee, Florida.
