During one of his homecoming shows, late-night host Jimmy Kimmel kicked Boston Red Sox superfan Matt Damon out of the venue.
The Brooklyn-born Kimmel opened his show at the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House with a monologue. While discussing the Yankees-Red Sox series, someone yelled, “Go Sox!” from the audience.
Upon revealing himself, Damon, who was wearing a Red Sox baseball cap, was met with an array of boos. He did not think he would be kicked out, given his A-list status.
“You, the loser in the Red Sox cap, what is your name?” he asked Damon, who replied, “You know my name.”
Kimmel did not care, and he then had Damon ejected from the venue in the “ceremonial throwing out of the first Red Sox fan.” Damon then claimed to be there with family, as he was sitting with Kimmel's mom and sister. That didn't stop him from being kicked out.
While Kimmel had Damon kicked out, the star of The Odyssey might have had the last laugh, saying, “Listen, I'll tell you what. You can keep me off the show, [but] you can't keep me out of your mom.”
Article Continues BelowDamon was not the only A-list cameo during the episode. Later in his monologue, Jon Hamm made an appearance. He also interviewed New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani and Staten Island native Pete Davidson on the episode.
This was the latest chapter in Kimmel and Damon's history. A few months ago, Damon invaded Kimmel's set using a Trojan Horse. During his Brooklyn residency last year, the Air actor also crashed the set. Ben Affleck famously snuck his childhood friend onto the show a decade ago.
The Odyssey star was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and is a die-hard Boston sports fan. He also supports the New England Patriots and the Boston Celtics.
The Yankees and the Red Sox open their best-of-three Wild Card playoff series on Tuesday, Sep. 29. New York finished in second place in the AL East with a 93-68 record. Boston was not far behind in third place with an 87-75 record.
