The Dallas Cowboys seem confident headed into Week 3 of the 2026 season. Dallas got a big win against Washington on Sunday, improving to 1-1 on the season. The Cowboys want to keep that momentum rolling throughout the rest of the season, no matter what it costs.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made waves when he said “there’s nothing more dangerous than an old man with money” after his team's Week 2 victory. Jones clarified what he meant with that statement during a recent radio interview.

“We have the makings of a team here that I’m optimistic about and would work to improve it in a minute,” Jones said on Tuesday on 105.3 The FAN, per The Athletic's Jon Machota.

He added that those postgame remarks were “very much” about spending now to improve the 2026 Cowboys roster. Jones explained that he's “looking for ways to make this year special.”

Jones has often talked about making a big trade to improve the roster this season. The time for a big move has not come yet, but Jones seems to have the topic at the front of his mind regardless.

The Cowboys invested a lot in their new-look defense during the offseason. That unit has shown some solid improvement to start the season, but Dallas wants them to play even better. The team could also use some reinforcements on the offensive side of the ball to help their running game.

At this point in the season, it is impossible to know whether or not a trade will actually happen before the deadline. But Cowboys fans have to be encouraged that their owner is willing to spend some money to make this a special season.

It will be fascinating to see if Dallas can get a huge win against an elite AFC team in their next game.
