After his latest phenomenal performance of the 2026 season, Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith stated the obvious.

“You’ve just got to [let] the Heisman voters or whoever it is know that I’m the best player in the country,” Smith said, via Adam Rittenberg of ESPN. “I’ve got to be there.”

In the Buckeyes’ 31-14 win over Iowa, Smith broke the Ohio State record for career receptions with 207 and career touchdown catches with 36.

He also tied the program record with his 15th career 100-yard game.

In five games this season, Smith has 44 catches for 617 yards and nine touchdowns. Against the Hawkeyes (not the Hawks), Smith had 11 catches for 206 yards and two touchdowns.

Smith NIL deal surely requires him to keep playing. As it relates to his NFL prospects, however, the hay is in the barn. He could stop playing right now and still be one of the top picks in the 2027 draft.
