The New York Yankees made unwanted postseason history in ALDS Game 1, losing 1-0 to the Tampa Bay Rays.
Drew Rasmussen nearly completed a no-hitter, holding New York hitless until Austin Wells doubled with two outs in the eighth inning. Wells then tried to turn the double into a triple and was thrown out, ending the Yankees’ best chance to even the score.
Article Continues BelowRasmussen finished with one hit allowed, two walks and 10 strikeouts across eight dominant innings. Bryan Baker handled the ninth and retired the Yankees in order to secure the Rays’ series-opening victory.
The lone hit was notable because New York had never finished a postseason game with fewer than two hits. Saturday brought a new low with just one hit. The result was a new postseason low.
