On Monday evening, the Chicago Bears continued their winning ways with a strong road victory over the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks in primetime. This game marked the Bears debut of pass rusher Jeffery Simmons, who was acquired by the team last week in a blockbuster trade with the Tennessee Titans.
Simmons wasted no time making his impact on the Bears, recording a sack on their very first defensive snap, and after the game he was rewarded for his efforts when head coach Ben Johnson gave him the game ball.
Simmons had been stuck in football purgatory with the Titans over the last several years, with many teams being rumored to have lined up for his services. However, the Bears ended up winning that battle, giving up multiple future first-round picks for the Pro Bowler, who now shores up what had been arguably the one true weakness on the Chicago roster before the deal went down.
Now, the Bears have a very strong pass rush between Simmons and his former Mississippi State teammate, Montez Sweat, and the offense appears to be fully back in tune now that Caleb Williams has been back in action for a few weeks.
Currently, the Bears look like a legit threat to reach the Super Bowl this year, with Williams playing at an MVP level and the defense performing well above expectations, especially now that one of the game's best pass rushers is in the mix.
In any case, the Bears will next hit the field on Sunday for a home game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
