The Boston Red Sox are eliminated from the postseason after just two games. And the two games they did play were rather ugly affairs. The Red Sox fell to the New York Yankees on Wednesday night. New York moves on while the baseball world clowns on Boston for its failure.

One prominent figure in the baseball world joined in on this. ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan took to social media to share his thoughts on the game. He called the series over before the ninth inning even began.

“The Yankees are embarrassing the Red Sox. It is 8-1 after a three-run homer from Cody Bellinger. They have now outscored them 17-1. This series is over,” Passan wrote on Wednesday night.

It was a rough stint in the postseason for Boston all told. Wednesday's Game 2 ended with a score of 9-2. As a result, Boston was outscored 19-2 in the two games against the Yankees.

The Red Sox held New York at bay for the early part of the game. Boston held New York scoreless through three innings. And it was a 2-1 game entering the bottom of the sixth inning. However, that's when things fell apart.

A George Lombard Jr. single and a Luis Garcia Jr. home run highlighted a six-run inning for New York. The Red Sox added a run in the seventh, but it was meaningless in the end.

The Yankees will move on to take on the AL East champion Tampa Bay Rays in the ALDS. New York or Tampa will take on either the Chicago White Sox or the Cleveland Guardians in the ALCS. The race for the World Series is heating up, and the Red Sox will sit on the sidelines as it unfolds.
