Boston Red Sox first baseman Willson Contreras snapped the longest postseason scoring drought in franchise history Wednesday night, hitting an opposite-field solo home run in the third inning of Game 2 against the New York Yankees. Contreras connected on a 1-1 pitch from Max Fried and sent the ball into the right-field seats, cutting New York’s lead to 2-1.
A spectator reached over the railing while attempting to catch the ball, prompting a review for possible fan interference.

Replay officials determined the 361-foot drive would have cleared the fence without the contact and upheld the home run.
The ruling kept Boston on the scoreboard despite boos from the Yankee Stadium crowd.
