The Los Angeles Lakers have gotten off to a tepid start to the NBA season, currently sitting at 4-2 ahead of Sunday's game vs the Toronto Raptors. Meanwhile, the team is embroiled in corporate controversy after recently being sold by Mark Walter to a group led by Josh Kushner and Bob Iger, with Jeanie Buss' future as the Governor of the team in peril.

Buss' siblings were reported to be selling their shares of the team in the wake of that move, but Buss has attempted to block such a transaction from taking place, per NBA insider Baxter Holmes of ESPN.

“In a court filing this week, Jeanie Buss accused her siblings of conspiring against her in a ‘cloak and dagger' campaign through the media, said they were jealous that their father picked her over them to govern the Los Angeles Lakers and asked a judge to block her siblings' attempt to sell the family's shares in the team,” reported Holmes on ESPN.com.

Buss has had a fractured relationship with her siblings in the years since her father, the late Dr. Jerry Buss, passed away, and things appeared to reach a breaking point in the wake of the sale by Walter earlier this year, which shocked the NBA world.

Holmes reported that there will be a court hearing on December 8 regarding the matter.

“The conflicts that ensued after Dr. [Jerry] Buss's death [in 2013] were sadly inevitable, and no doubt intensified given that Dr. Buss chose his daughter over four sons to be his successor,” Jeanie's lawyers wrote as part of the filing earlier this week.

In any case, the Lakers will next hit the floor on Sunday for a home game vs the Toronto Raptors.
