Recently, it was reported that Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams would miss multiple weeks after suffering a Grade 2 hamstring strain last week at home against the Minnesota Vikings. The news rules Williams out for Monday night's upcoming game at home against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Now, with quarterback Tyson Bagent in the concussion protocol, more information has come to light on Bears head coach Ben Johnson's quarterback plan for Monday's game.
“Jay Glazer just reported on Fox pregame show that Case Keenum will start and Tyson Bagent will serve as the Bears backup QB tomorrow night,” reported Harrison Graham of Chicago Sports Now on X, formerly Twitter.
It's certainly not the update that Bears fans were hoping for as they look to avoid falling into a 1-2 hole to open up the season.
The Bears' offense looked like a juggernaut in Week 1 against the Carolina Panthers, putting 59 points on the board in that blowout win, but the unit was completely shut down last week against Minnesota even prior to Williams' injury, and now, the team will have to face off against one of the league's other top defensive units with Keenum under center.
It remains to be seen just how many games Williams will miss with the injury, and whether or not Bagent will be ready to start next week as the season continues.
However, the Bears' defense would certainly do well to have a strong game on Monday in order to give Chicago a fighting chance at home against the Eagles.
