The South Carolina Gamecocks are now 2-2 on the season after falling 49-18 to the No. 8 Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday. There was a moment during the contest when edge rusher Dylan Stewart went viral on social media, as he was seen punching tight end Josh Ford. Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer was not happy about the incident in the slightest.

During the postgame press conference, Beamer called out the junior defensive end, claiming he felt embarrassed after watching the footage, according to Chaz R. Frazier of ABC Columbia. The 49-year-old also admitted Stewart's actions were unacceptable, and that the punch is not something he wants representing South Carolina.

“It's okay to play with emotion, but not be emotional,” Beamer said. “I saw the play that [Stewart] got the penalty on. I didn't see it until just now. That's unacceptable, and that's not how we do things around here. I'm embarrassed to see that because that's not what we are about.”

South Carolina's Dylan Stewart threw the punch at Alabama's Josh Ford almost immediately after the Crimson Tide scored a one-yard rushing touchdown late in the contest. If Ford was not wearing his helmet, the punch would have connected cleanly on his jaw. Officials called an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Stewart, but strangely did not eject him from the game.

The SEC may elect to look into the incident and deliver a punishment for Stewart. However, that possible decision may take several days. There is also a chance Shane Beamer takes action himself. But only time will tell if a punishment is given to the 21-year-old. In the meantime, the Gamecocks will shift their attention to a Week 5 matchup against the Kentucky Wildcats.
