Put Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the NFL in the late 1960s. How many receiving yards would he tally in a season? 2,000? 4,000? 58,000?

Smith-Njigba and the Seahawks handed the Kansas City Chiefs their first loss, rolling to a dominant victory, 20-3, at Lumen Field on Sunday. Smith-Njigba had nine receptions for 150 yards and one touchdown. He also had two carries for 13 yards.

The 24-year-old star reminded everyone why he is the reigning Offensive Player of the Year, as he made history against the Chiefs.

“Jaxon Smith-Njigba is the first player in the Super Bowl Era (since 1966) with at least 850 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns in his team's first seven games of the season,” said ESPN Insights.

Last season, he led the league with a career-high 1,793 receiving yards. He also recorded a career-high 10 touchdowns. Smith-Njigba is on track to surpass those numbers, or even threaten his teammate Cooper Kupp's spot for the second-most receiving yards in a season. Kupp tallied 1,947 receiving yards with the Los Angeles Rams in 2021.

NFL legend Calvin Johnson owns the all-time record with 1,964 receiving yards with the Detroit Lions in 2012.

The Seahawks snapped a two-game skid and improved to 4-3, including 3-1 at home. The Chiefs fell to 5-1.

Sam Darnold went 20-of-28 for 257 yards and one touchdown. Emanuel Wilson had 24 carries for 100 yards and a score.

The defense also went to work, limiting the Chiefs to their lowest output since Week 18 in 2024. The Seahawks held Kenneth Walker III to just 36 yards on 14 carries in his first game against Seattle since signing with Kansas City in the offseason.

Patrick Mahomes went 19-of-33 yards for 1645 yards and one interception.

The Seahawks will host the Chicago Bears in Week 8.
