Brock Purdy kept the big picture in focus while acknowledging errors he and the San Francisco 49ers made in their 29-20 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon.
San Francisco boasted a perfect 6-0 record going into the matchup. The shined as one of the best teams in the league, seeing Purdy play at an elite level.
However, they suffered a road upset to the Falcons. They were dealing with injuries as they missed Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel Sr., De'Zhaun Stribling, and Demarcus Robinson within the receiving corps.
Purdy reflected on the injuries in the receiving room after the game, per reporter Greg Auman. He gave props to the healthy receivers who stepped up with bigger roles, hoping for the unit to improve with their health amid all the injuries.
“With our preparation and how Kyle [Shanahan] goes about the week with getting us ready as an offense and stuff, I think it's pretty not easy, but he makes it pretty smooth for these guys to come in and learn what they need to do and be on time and all that kind of thing,” Purdy said.
“I thought they did a great job today, you know, for what was handed to us and stuff and trying to, you know, we need to limit the turnovers, yes, and we sort of shot ourselves in the foot with that. But you know, the fact that we were out there, you know, having those new guys and stuff out there running routes for us and creating separation and making plays and stuff.”
