As the adage goes, defense wins championships. Surely, the Minnesota Vikings would like to believe so.
The defense stepped up anew as the Vikings escaped the Indianapolis Colts, 16-10, at US Bank Stadium, keeping them undefeated at 6-0. Harrison Smith picked off Daniel Jones' pass in the final minute to seal the victory.
It was a fitting end, with the Vikings relying on their defense for the majority of the contest. The team's woes on offense were highlighted again, but coach Kevin O'Connell maintained an optimistic view, as reported by ESPN's Kevin Seifert.
“There were nine explosive (plays) on offense, but we left a lot out there. I think our guys are very confident that we're not far off. The ‘far off' changes a little bit as you go, but I'm very, very confident we'll get it going,” said O'Connell.
Kyler Murray went 14-of-24 for 150 yards and one touchdown. Jordan Jefferson had 15 carries for 68 yards, while Justin Jefferson and TJ Hockenson combined for eight receptions and 79 yards. Hockenson scored a touchdown.
The Vikings have allowed only 12.8 points per game, the stingiest in the NFL. They, however, only have 10 touchdowns in six games.

“We'll continue to get better. I know we will. I know we keep saying that, but I felt like we moved the ball well today. We've just got to put the ball in the end zone,” said Murray, who is in his first season with Minnesota.
The Vikings will visit the Detroit Lions in Week 8.
