The Seattle Seahawks suffered a humbling defeat in Week 3. Seattle lost a slugfest with Washington despite their offense playing some great football. It helps to have arguably the NFL's best wide receiver carving up opposing defenses.
Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba is quietly having an incredible season. He gave a humble answer when asked how it feels to be the best receiver in the NFL.
“It feels right, man, it feels right. I mean, that's the standard I hold myself to. Being the best, coming in and just putting the work in and letting the results handle itself,” Smith-Njigba said on Tuesday via NFL on CBS. “But I'm around a great group of guys, a great staff that allows me to showcase my skills.”
JSN has a humble attitude, but he certainly looks the part of an elite wide receiver on the field. He already has 27 receptions for 405 receiving yards and six touchdowns after just three games. That, paired with his massive new $168 million contract, shows that he really is the best.
Former NFL player Kyle Long asked Smith-Njigba how he handles the pressure of being the best in the league.
“For me, I think all of its the same to be honest. I mean, a lot of my success has to do with what we're doing to prepare,” Smith-Njigba explained. “I think pressure is a privilege, so I'm just honored to even feel that and to go out there and attack it each Sunday.”
The Seahawks are now 2-1 on the season. They've fallen behind the 49ers in the NFC West division standings, so getting a win in Week 4 is a must. Fortunately, Seattle has a pretty winnable matchup this weekend.
Next up for the Seahawks is a home game against the Chargers. That Week 4 contest kicks off at 4:25 p.m. ET on Oct. 4 from Lumen Field in Seattle.
