Auburn is set to play Tennessee in an SEC clash on Saturday, but a new revelation has renewed interest in the game. Former Auburn player and personnel scouting assistant David Rudolph Jenrath was arrested on Monday.
The arrest stems from charges that he shared Auburn athletics information with other competing programs without the university's consent, including Auburn's recruiting plans with up to 11 other schools, according to a CBS Sports report. Jenrath is currently a student at Tennessee studying sports analytics.
Per his LinkedIn, Jenrath worked on new Auburn head coach Alex Golesh's staff from January through June 2026; however, CBS Sports reports that he was fired in the spring. Reporting also details that he operated under a pseudonym email address to share documents about recruits Auburn was targeting, specifically within the 2027, 2028, and 2029 classes. He used the pseudonym Don Julio to conceal his identity.
However, the subject line had information personal to Auburn, such as Golesh's home address. Per CBS Sports, the shared document did not include specific game-planning information. The incident comes as Auburn is set to face off against the University of Tennessee following its 21-15 victory over fellow SEC foe Vanderbilt during its homecoming weekend. Auburn looks to continue its winning season with a win against the Volunteers, who lost to Texas on Saturday. The game is scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN.
