There was one particularly risky sketch when Jalen Brunson hosted Saturday Night Live (SNL), and the New York Knicks' captain revealed there was a safety net in place.
Brunson was asked for his favorite sketch from his episode. He loved the High School Musical parody, but “Office MVP” also got a shoutout. In the sketch, he plays a lowly office worker who tries to shoot a piece of paper into a waste basket. He fails over and over before revealing his true identity, and he makes his last shot.
However, during the week leading up to the taping, Brunson was missing the shot. In turn, the other actors had an alternate ending ready to go just in case he missed during the live taping.
“Honestly, ‘Office MVP' was really cool, too. We had an alternate ending [in case I] missed,” he revealed. “I missed all week until, literally, the live show I made it.”
Brunson making the shot garnered a “genuine reaction from the cast” members in the sketch since he was missing it all week. However, because he made it, the alternate ending was never needed. It would be funny to hear how it would've gone someday, though.
When did Knicks captain Jalen Brunson host SNL?

Brunson hosted the Season 52 premiere of SNL on Sep. 26. This came right before the Knicks' preseason began, making it one of his last notable offseason activities.
Coming up, he will show off his acting chops again when he stars in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit with Mariska Hargitay. The episode he appears in will air on Nov. 5.
The Knicks will start their season against the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday, Oct. 20. While the Knicks swept the 76ers in the playoffs in May 2026, the team looks a lot different. They added LeBron James and Jaylen Brown during the offseason.
