Thanks in part to a helping hand from Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni, the Jaguars survived the loss of long snapper Ross Matiscik in Sunday’s win but they aren’t going to risk having to scramble again in Week 6.

Head coach Liam Coen told reporters on Monday morning that the team has an unnamed long snapper en route to London to join them for next Sunday’s game against the Texans.

Matiscik had to leave on Sunday after suffering a shoulder injury, which pushed defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton into service. Hamilton handled the job well for someone who rarely practices snapping and delivered the snap for kicker Cam Little’s game-winning 56-yard field goal at the buzzer, but there was also a missed extra point and holder Logan Cooke had to do some gymnastics to get the ball down in other spots.

“There was one he got it down and his foot was a little bit in the way of the spot and at the last possible second, he slightly moved his foot to get out of Cam’s way,” Coen said, via Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union. “Just chaos for sure.”

The Jags also committed 13 penalties, turned the ball over and made questionable decisions around the goal line, so there was chaos to spare in what turned out to be an improbable 19-17 win.
