Malik Nabers made it back onto the field Monday night. Now the Giants need to find out what that cost him. The star receiver said after New York's 28-6 loss to the Rams at SoFi Stadium that his right shoulder popped out during the first quarter and that he had to pop it back in. He will undergo further testing to get a clearer picture of the damage.

The injury came on the second-to-last play of the opening quarter. Jameis Winston lofted a jump ball toward Nabers, who went up against Rams defensive back Trent McDuffie. The pass sailed over his head, and Nabers came down doubled over, clutching his right arm before heading to the sideline in visible pain.

The Giants listed him as questionable to return, and a trainer continued working on the shoulder through the next Rams possession. Nabers checked back in two series later, midway through the second quarter, with New York already trailing 14-0.

Winston was only in the game because of an earlier blow. Starting quarterback Jaxson Dart went down on New York's opening series, hit by linebacker Byron Young and undercut by Josaiah Stewart on a third-and-8 pressure. Dart walked gingerly to the medical tent with a knee injury and did not return.

The timing is what makes any shoulder concern so worrying. Nabers had just returned from a torn right ACL and meniscus suffered in Week 4 of last season against the Chargers, an injury that cost him the final 13 games of 2025. He looked fully back in the opener, leading all Giants receivers with six catches for 69 yards in a 28-20 win over Dallas.

His shoulder also has a history. Nabers missed multiple weeks of training camp in 2025 with a shoulder injury, and he dealt with minor shoulder issues twice during his college career at LSU.

The injuries piled onto a Giants roster already thin in the secondary, with cornerback Paulson Adebo on injured reserve and Deonte Banks inactive with a calf injury. New York fell to 1-1, managing just six points.

The Giants host the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, and the results of Nabers' testing will go a long way toward determining whether he is available.
